HOUSTON – HBU men's basketball returns to Sharp Gym after six games away from the Huskies' home floor to take on New Orleans with a chance to move into a tie for first place in the Southland Conference on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Husky fans can watch the game on the Husky Sports Network Husky Sports Network with Garrett Jones and Van Chancellor, available at HBUHuskies.com.

HBU (6-10, 2-1 SLC) is one of four schools currently tied for second in the league standings behind first place New Orleans (10-8, 3-0 SLC). After dropping the SLC opener at McNeese on a buzzer-beater the Huskies went to UIW and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and earned a pair of road victories. Through three SLC games so far, HBU has out-scored opponents by two points per game with the largest margin of victory at seven. The Huskies have yet to trail by double-digits in SLC games and have held a lead for nearly 64 minutes of play while trailing for less than 47 minutes.

Darius Lee earned SLC Player of the Week recognition for his play last week, averaging 25 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and four steals per game. He recorded a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds at UIW and then set career-highs of six assists and six steals at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Sam Hofman posted the first double-double of his career on Saturday at TAMUCC, scoring 18 with a career-best 13 rebounds.

New Orleans is riding a six-game winning streak thanks in part to opening SLC play with three wins on its home floor. The Privateers most recently defeated Northwestern State, 85-77, with Derek St. Hilaire scoring 29 points with three other players scoring in double-figures. As a team, UNO shot over 50 percent from the floor and out-rebounded the Demons, 42-30.

St. Hilaire is the conference's second-leading scorer, averaging 19.8 ppg to lead the Privateers. Troy Green is the only other UNO player averaging double-figures in scoring, adding 14.5 ppg. Robby Robinson leads the team in rebounds per game, with 6.1, but he hasn't played since November. Green is next, averaging 5.8 rpg and has raised that 10.3 ppg in SLC play.

When the Huskies and Privateers met at the SLC Tip-Off Event earlier this month in Katy, Texas, UNO took the 81-65 win. Lee scored a game-high 18 points for HBU while St. Hilaire led New Orleans with 17. The Privateers shot 50.9 percent (28-of-55) from the floor while holding the Huskies to just 36.1 percent (22-of-61).

The Nicholls Colonels will be up next for the Huskies on Saturday, Jan. 29, with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. That game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
