CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A stretch of six games away from home comes to a close on Saturday afternoon when the HBU men's basketball team squares off against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the American Bank Center at 3:30 p.m. in Southland Conference play. Husky fans can watch the game on ESPN+ and listen to the Husky Sports Network audio broadcast with Garrett Jones, available at HBUHuskies.com.
 
The Huskies (5-10, 1-1 SLC) are fresh off a 68-65 road win at UIW with both the team's SLC games played decided by just three points after falling at McNeese, 78-75. At UIW, senior Darius Lee posted his fourth double-double of the season with 25 points and 12 rebounds to raise his season averages to 14.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Jade Tse set a new career-high with 17 points.
 
In two conference games, HBU is shooting 55.8 percent from the floor compared to 44.8 percent for the season. Across the four halves of those two games, HBU has yet to shoot below 50 percent from the field. Lee is tops in the conference for the season on the boards, averaging 9.2 rpg, and is in the top eight in both steals per game (1.6) and scoring (14.2 ppg).
 
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (15-4, 2-0 SLC) is one of two teams atop the league standings at 2-0 and has won three-straight games. The Islanders have played the same two opponents in SLC play as HBU, UIW and McNeese, with both games on their home court. They defeated UIW, 80-64, and then downed McNeese, 60-56, on Thursday.
 
Isaac Mushila, a 6-5 junior forward, leads the team with 14.8 ppg and 8.9 rpg and has six double-doubles in 19 games. Trevian Tennyson is second on the team with 12.4 ppg while guard Terrion Murdix is averaging more than four assists per game off the bench. The Islanders are out-scoring opponents by 11.6 ppg as a team own a perfect 8-0 record on their home floor.
 
The Huskies will return to Sharp Gym for the next four games beginning on Thursday, Jan. 27, when they host New Orleans at 7:00 p.m.
