SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Darius Lee posted a double-double and Jade Tse scored a career-high as the HBU men's basketball team picked up a road Southland Conference victory over the UIW Cardinals, 68-65, inside the McDermott Center on Thursday night.

The first half was tight throughout with 11 lead changes and a pair of ties with the Huskies (5-10, 1-1 SLC) holding the lead for 9:13 to the Cardinals' (4-15, 0-2 SLC) 9:14 out of the first 20 minutes. UIW's largest lead in the half was three with a Drew Lutz layup putting the Cardinals ahead 10-7 before back-to-back baskets from Jade Tse and Zion Tordoff put HBU up, 11-10.

The two teams then swapped buckets and leads, alternating back and forth until the 3:04 mark when a Darius Lee layup put the Huskies in the lead, 25-22. UIW's RJ Glasper answered with a jumper but HBU closed out the half with a pair of treys from Lee and Tse to take a 31-24 advantage at halftime.

The Huskies kept the momentum going from the end of the first half, out-scoring the hosts 13-2 to open the second half. The HBU lead grew as large as 18 with a pair of Lee layups making it 48-30 in the Huskies' favor with 13:06 left to play. From there, UIW began clawing its way back in large part thanks to converting 19 of 21 free throw attempts in the half but the Huskies held off the comeback attempt largely thanks to 18 second half points from Lee.

Lee finished with his fourth double-double of the season consisting of a season-high 25 points and matching his season-best on the boards with 12 rebounds. He finished the game shooting 10-of-19 from the floor and had three assists. Tse scored a career-high 17 points, connecting on 17 from the field and 2-of-3 from behind the arc.

HBU shot 54.2 percent (26-of-48) from the floor and 38.5 percent (5-of-13) from three. The Huskies owned a 36-25 advantage on the boards with 11 coming on the offensive end. UIW won the turnover battle, forcing 20 HBU miscues while committing 13.

The Cardinals were led by Johnny Hughes III with 21 points of the bench, making 6-of-9 from the field and 9-of-11 from the foul line. The Cardinals shot 40 percent (20-of-50) for the game and 26.3 percent (5-of-19) from deep.

The Huskies head south to Corpus Christi, Texas for their next game, a Saturday afternoon matchup with the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders inside the American Bank Center at 3:30 p.m.
