ROCKFORD, IL – The HBU men's soccer team fell to UIC 3-0 in a non-conference matchup Monday night at Wedgbury Stadium at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two.

The Huskies (1-3) had a few opportunities to get ahead of the Flames early in the matchup when
Gianluca Natera and
Bangelee Sesay sent shots towards goal, but both were saved by the Flames goalkeeper. Â

UIC (1-1-2) got on the board early in the first half when Younes Dayekh scored to make it 1-0 in the 9
th minute. Strong defense by the Flames the rest of the way kept the Huskies from getting any more shots on goal, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime. Â

UIC came out fast in the second half and scored on an Eduardo Garcia shot in the 50
th minute. The third and final goal for the Flames came in the 68
th minute when Bukola Abdulwahab sent one into the lower left corner to make it 3-0. HBU's
Luis Poblacion put one last shot on goal for the Huskies in the 77
th minute but it was saved by the UIC goalkeeper.

For the game, UIC led the Huskies in total shots and shots on goal 17 (9) - 11 (3). Â The Huskies had the advantage in corner kicks, 8-5. HBU goalkeeper
JP Becerra had six saves, his highest total on the season.

The Huskies return to Sorrels Field this week to take on Huston-Tillotson, Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Oral Roberts, Sunday at 1 p.m.
