HOUSTON – HBU took down Lamar in straight sets (25-16, 25-23, 25-18) in their home opener Friday night in Sharp Gym.

The Huskies had a .294 attack percentage, their best coming in the first set (.452) while they held the Cardinals to just .103 percent for the contest.

Alyssa May had a game high 10 kills and added on 12 digs. Junior setter
Ellie Wipf led the way with 35 assists while adding on two blocks.

Kaitlyn Gil and Paige Dugan led the way for the Cardinals, each having eight kills. Hannah Waters had 17 assists and Giselle Santini had 15 digs for the Cardinals.

The Huskies led the Cardinals in kills (50-30), blocks (7-6), assists (37-30), and digs (65-54).

The Huskies return to action in the Houston Marriott Westchase Invitation Friday with games against Louisiana Tech at 12:30 p.m. and Prairie View A&M at 6:30 p.m. in Sharp Gym.
