NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Huskies give conference leaders SFA their second loss on the SLC season in the doubleheader split on Friday afternoon in Nacogdoches. The Huskies broke ace pitcher Kassidy Wilbur's 38 inning shutout streak in the game one win.
GAME ONE: Heidi Jaquez knocked a two run homer in the after six scoreless innings for the 3-1 victory.
Shelby Echols went 1-for-4 scoring once while Sarah Venker went 1-for-4. Caitlyn Brockway went 1-for-5 with the RBI in the fourth to tie the game and Riley Martin went 1-for-1 as a pinch hitter in the 11th inning.
Jessica Patak (8-9) took the win in the circle with the complete game allowing one run on night hits and walking two while striking out four.
Mac Bennett went 3-for-5 bringing in the only run for the Ladyjacks. Gaby Garcia and Bry Novegil each went 2-for-5 while Camryn Middlebrooke and Shayl Govan went 1-for-5.
Kassidy Wilbur (28-4) through the complete game loss giving up three runs on five hits and walking a pair while striking out 10.
GAME TWO: Huskies fall by one after a sixth inning free pass with the bases loaded as SFA took the 5-4 win.
Jaquez led the Huskies (22-15, 15-11 SLC) going 2-for-3 scoring twice with an RBI while Brockway and Venker each went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Lyndie Swanson (9-2) took the loss in throwing 5.2 innings allowing five runs on six hits walking and striking out a pair. Venker came in relief and added a strikeout.
Middlebrooke went 1-for-2 with two RBIs for the Ladyjacks (33-10, 24-2 SLC) while Al Hedspeth went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Bennett and Govan each added an RBI and Garcia scored twice.
Reagan Chism took the win in relief throwing 4.1 innings allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out one. Raigan Mock threw the first 1.2 innings allowing two runs on two hits and a walk with a strikeout, while Kass Wilbur got her third season save in the last inning giving up two hits while striking out one.
The game three conclusion will be played Saturday at noon.
