HAMMOND, La. – HBU lost 2-0 in Southland Conference action on Thursday evening to Southeastern Louisiana at Strawberry Stadium.
The two teams took a little time getting a feel for the other with HBU (2-10-1, 2-7-0 SLC) forward
Ryan Ford registering the first shot of the game in the 14
th minute, missing high. Jamie Raines then hit the post on an attempt for Southeastern Louisiana (4-2-3, 4-2-3 SLC) at the 17:46 mark and then assisted on the first goal of the game, setting up Makenzie Maher in the 19
th minute to stake SLU to a 1-0 lead. Ford later put a shot on target late in the half but SLU's Nadine Maher made the save and Hitomi Konno made it a 2-0 game at the 42:57 mark.
The Huskies put five attempts on goal in the second half but were unable to find the net with senior
Noor Abukishk putting three of her shots on target.
HBU attempted nine shots to the Lady Lions' 13 but held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Huskies and Lady Lions each earned one corner kick. HBU goalkeeper
Karla Ramirez had a pair of saves while SLU's keeper Maher finished with six saves.
HBU will travel to Thibodaux, La. for a Saturday, Apr. 3, afternoon matchup against the Nicholls Colonels at 3:00 p.m.
