NATCHITOCHES, La – The Huskies were down early and couldn't hold the Demons in the third as Northwestern State took the series sweep with the 7-3 win in HBU's first SLC road trip on Saturday afternoon at the Lady Demon Diamond.
Redshirt freshman second baseman Jasie Roberts went 3-for-3 with both Huskies (9-9,2-7 SLC) runs on the board, while redshirt freshman short stop Shelby Echols went 2-for-4. Freshman Riley Martin left fielder went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Junior right hander Jessica Patak (3-7) took the loss in the circle allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks in 2.1 innings pitched. Redshirt freshman Lyndie Swanson allowed two runs on four hits and a walk with one strikeout.
Taylor Williams and EC Delafield both went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI for the Demons (15-7,9-0 SLC). Kaitlyn St. Clair went 1-for-2 with a double with a run and an RBI, while Kat Marshall went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Elise Vincent went 1-for-2 with a walk and score twice with Emma Hawthorne and Hayley Barbazon both scoring once.
Bronte Rhoden (4-2) took the win throwing 5.2 innings allowing two runs on five hits and no walks and two strikeouts. EC Delafield finished the game allowing only one hit and a walk with two strikeouts.
Northwestern State scored three runs in the first inning with a single, sacrifice fly and sacrifice bunt. They scored once in the second with a Delafield double, and captured their final three runs in the third.
Jasie Roberts was able to score in the second inning after a Demon error and scored the Huskies second run off a Riley Martin single in the fourth.
The Huskies travel to face Sam Houston in a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader in a 4 p.m. start on Friday, April 2 with the series conclusion on Saturday at noon in Huntsville, Texas.
