HOUSTON – HBU women's soccer will play its last four games of the season on the road beginning Thursday evening across town at Rice's Holloway Field for the season's final non-conference matchup against the Owls at 7:00 p.m.
The Huskies (2-8-1, 2-6-0 SLC) and Owls (6-2-0, 2-1-0 CUSA) were originally scheduled to play on Feb. 7 but that match was postponed. The last time the two played was during the 2016 season with the host Owls taking a 2-1 win.
This past weekend, HBU dropped a pair of tough one-goal losses to visiting Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin. Senior
Tayah Reynolds picked up her first career goal to even the score at 1-1 on Friday evening against Sam Houston but a Bearkats goal with less than four minutes to play downed the Huskies. So far this season eight different players have scored goals for HBU with senior
Noor Abukishk and sophomore
Ryan Ford leading the team with two each.
Rice has won its last two games, including a 3-2 overtime win at home against No. 12 Texas A&M on Mar. 15. Senior Haley Kostyshyn leads the team with nine points and five assists while junior Madison Kent is the team's top goal-scorer, netting four goals in eight games. Junior Bella Killgore has played every minute in goal for Rice with 30 saves and nine goals against.
HBU will have the weekend off before traveling to Louisiana next week to take on Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond on Thursday, Apr. 1, and Nicholls in Thibodaux on Saturday, Apr. 3.
