FRISCO, Texas – HBU junior middle blocker
Ebonie Ballesteros has been named the Southland Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, as voted on by the league's sports information directors and announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Ballesteros had 15 total blocks, including three solo, as the Huskies split their two home conference matches last week. In Saturday's sweep of McNeese, she hit .750 with six kills and had three more blocks.
The El Paso, Texas, native leads the Southland with 1.35 blocks per set overall and 1.56 in conference play. The Huskies have taken each of the last two defensive honors, as redshirt freshman libero
Kaley Feris claimed the Week 5 award.
Redshirt freshman outside hitter
Reagan Leinen earned Offensive Player of the Week honorable mention by appearing on at least 25 percent of the ballots.
The Huskies return to action when they host UIW Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Sharp Gym, before traveling to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday.
