HOUSTON – HBU women's soccer opens its spring 2021 campaign this Thursday across town against the Houston Cougars at Carl Lewis Stadium on the UH campus at 7:00 p.m.
The Huskies (0-0-1) last played the Cougars (0-0-0) in 2018 in their season opener, earning a 3-1 win at Sorrels Field. Senior

In the Huskies' lone match of the fall, freshman defender
Kat Lazor scored her first collegiate goal in her first collegiate game on a header from a corner kick early in the second half to stake HBU a 1-0 lead on the visiting Texas State Bobcats. Texas State then found the equalizer with just over two minutes remaining in the game. HBU goalkeeper
Karla Ramirez made a pair of saves in the tie.
The Cougars finished the 2019 season with a 6-14 overall record and a 3-4 mark on their home field. They are led this season by preseason all-American Conference forward Jazmin Grant, a senior. Grant finished 2019 second on the team with 11 points thanks to four goals and there assists. UH earned a 1-0 exhibition win this past weekend against Rice and was picked to finish sixth in the AAC.
The Huskies' spring schedule features 15 matches with 11 Southland Conference dates and four non-conference matchups.
HBU will stay in town this weekend for a Sunday, Feb. 7, afternoon game at Rice with kick-off set for 1:00 p.m.
