HOUSTON – HBU begins its final stretch of home games in the 2020-21 season beginning this Monday with the Sam Houston Bearkats visiting Sharp Gym for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. Husky fans can catch all the action on the Husky Sports Network broadcast with Lonnie King providing play-by-play available at HBUHuskies.com.

The Huskies (4-16, 3-9 SLC) and Bearkats (17-7, 11-2 SLC) last met on Jan. 16 in a back-and-forth game that featured 15 lead changes but ended with Sam Houston on top, 87-80. HBU was led in scoring by Pedro Castro who finished with 17 points while sophomore Jason Thompson added a season-high 16 points off the bench. SHSU shot 46.2 percent (12-of-26) from three and junior Zach Nutall totaled 33 points.

HBU has lost its last three games, all on the road in Louisiana. The Huskies are in the midst of a frantic final stretch that will end with the team playing six games in 13 days. Sam Houston, meanwhile, is coming off its second Southland Conference loss of the season, falling at Abilene Christian by a score of 86-72 on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

Based on the points system being used by the SLC this season for tournament seeding, the Huskies are currently at 10 points, four points behind the eighth seed and just seven points behind the current fifth seed. With three games left, HBU can pick up as many as nine points.

The Huskies are also set to host UIW on Wednesday, Mar. 3, at 7:00 p.m. and then Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for Senior Night on Saturday, Mar. 6, at 5:00 p.m.
