SAN ANTONIO, Texas – HBU is set to open Southland Conference play in women's soccer this Friday evening when the Huskies visit UIW while Sunday's scheduled contest at Texas State has been canceled due to expected inclement weather.

HBU (0-1-1) opened the spring portion of its schedule last Friday at UH after playing a single game in the fall. The Huskies dropped last week's game at UH by a 3-1 margin playing with a limited squad. Freshman Evelyn Slaughter scored her first career goal in the loss.

In two games so far this year, the Huskies have attempted 18 shots with 11 of those on target for a shots on goal percentage of .611 while opponents have put just seven of 24 attempts (.292) on goal.

UIW (1-1-0) comes into Friday's SLC opener sporting a 2-1 road win over Prairie View A&M and a 1-0 home loss to UT Rio Grande Valley. The Cardinals are led by junior preseason first team all-conference forward Keeley Ayala. Ayala accounted for one of the team's two goals at Prairie View and totaled 13 last season as a sophomore. This season, the UIW offense has attempted 42 shots while allowing just eight.

The Huskies are 6-1 all-time against UIW with last season marking the Cardinals' first win in the series. HBU is 3-0 at UIW.

The Huskies will return home to Sorrels Field on Friday, Feb. 19, for a home game at Sorrels Field to host Central Arkansas at 7:00 p.m.
