HOUSTON – The HBU women's basketball team hosts Southwestern Assemblies of God (TX) in Sharp Gym on Saturday afternoon. The game will tip off at 3:00 p.m. and can be streamed on the Husky Sports Network with Tamer Knight.
 
The Huskies (3-6, 0-0 SLC) come into the contest on a five game losing streak, most recently dropping contests to Texas State and UTRGV. The Huskies are led by N'Denasija Collins who has been playing her best basketball of late. Collins has totaled two double-doubles and averaged just under 18 points per game while shooting 55 percent from the floor, 71 percent from deep and 89 percent from the foul line over HBU's last four games. She was an honorable mention for Southland Conference Player of the Week last week. Timia Jefferson is second in scoring for HBU and averages 12.2 points per game. Julija Vujakovic follows at 9.2 points per game.
 
The Lions (4-5, 1-4 SAC) have dropped three games in a row, including losses to John Brown University (AK) and Oklahoma City University. Rylee Lavender leads the Lions in scoring, averaging 12.4 points per game.
 
As a team, the Huskies are shooting .363 from the field while opponents shoot .359 against them. The Huskies shoot .282 from three point range while holding opponents to just a .251 percentage. Defensively, HBU forces just under 20 turnovers per game and has out blocked their opponents 36-28 so far this season.
 
Southwestern Assemblies of God (TX) is shooting .351 from the field and opponents are shooting .381 against them. They turn the ball over 21.2 times per game and force 16.8 turnovers per game.
 
The Huskies and the Lions have met twice before, most recently in 2016 when HBU won 71-52. The Huskies lead the overall series, 2-0.
