HOUSTON – HBU is set to close out a four-game homestand this Saturday in Sharp Gym, hosting the Rice Owls for a non-conference men's basketball matchup with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. Husky fans can catch all the action on the Husky Sports Network broadcast with Garrett Jones on play-by-play, available at HBUHuskies.com.

In the Huskies (3-5) last game, an 84-67 win over Champion Christian, James Sears Bryant Head Men's Basketball Coach Ron Cottrell earned career win No. 500. Every one of Cottrell's victories has come as the head coach at HBU. He also becomes just the 26th active NCAA Division I head coach to reach the 500 career wins milestone.

HBU's two international newcomers, Zion Tordoff and Sam Hofman, both totaled 19 points against Champion for new career-highs in scoring. Tordoff, a transfer from Marist who hails from the UK, posted his first career double-double of 19 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. The senior was 8-of-11 from the floor and six of his 10 rebounds came on the offensive end. Hofman, a junior from Belgium who transferred from Salt Lake Community College, was 3-of-5 from three and 7-of-10 from the field to reach 19 points and added five rebounds.

The Huskies continue to be strong on the boards, owning a rebounding margin of +7 with 39 rebounds per game while holding opponents to 32 rpg. That rebound margin ranks 49th nationally while the Huskies' 13.12 offensive rebounds per game is the 36th-best mark in the country.

Rice (5-4) broke a three-game losing streak in its last game, a 100-64 win over Jarvis Christian. Four players scored in double-figures while eight players scored at least eight points in a balanced offensive effort. Freshman Jaden Geron led the way with 15 points, connecting on 5-of-5 from beyond the arc. Forwards Max Fielder and Mylyjael Poteat both posted double-doubles.

For the season, sophomore Travis Evee leads the team with 14.8 points per game while senior Carl Pierre is right behind him at 14.7 ppg. Evee and Pierre, both guards, each take more than two-thirds of their shots from three-point range and are shooting a combined 44.4 percent from three. Fiedler is scoring 11.3 ppg and leads the team with 9.7 rpg.

HBU will play another Conference USA opponent the next time the Huskies hit the floor, visiting Miami, Fla. to face Florida International at 6:00 p.m. CT.
