HOUSTON – The HBU men's soccer team closes out their 2021 season with Senior Day when they host Chicago State for some Western Athletic Conference soccer at Sorrels Field on Saturday night.
The Huskies (3-14-0, 1-9-0 WAC) are coming off of a heartbreaking loss on the road against San Jose State. For the year,
CJ Smith and
Bryant Farkarlun lead the Huskies in goals with five,
Sebastian Cochrane and
Nathan Karmbor have each added three while
Diego Aguilera Cubero has added two of his own.
Luis Poblacion and
Kaone Kolagano have each added one.
Abu Kamara and Poblacion are tied for most assists on the year with three while
Gianluca Natera, Smith, Cochrane, and Karmbor have each added two. Defenders
Elijah Le and
Sander Brauer-Ersoy have started all 17 matches for the Huskies and have the two highest minute totals on the year with 1533 and 1428 respectively.
This is Chicago States (2-12-3, 0-8-2 WAC) first year in the WAC and will be the first time the Cougars and the Huskies will meet. The Cougars are coming off of three road games, including a tie against San Jose State and a 4-1 loss against Seattle U. Enrique Zamora leads the Cougars with four goals while Cal-wayne Allen and Gaye Diadie have each added two. Cougar goalkeeper Joe Bowles has 76 saves on the season, the most in the conference.
