THIBODAUX, La. – The HBU women's soccer team is hitting the home stretch of the 2021 regular season with four matches left, beginning this Thursday at Nicholls before playing two more in Louisiana ahead of the regular season finale later in the month.

The Huskies (3-8-3, 3-3-2 SLC) and Colonels (0-12, 0-8 SLC) will kick-off at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, afternoon in Thibodaux, La. with HBU then traveling on to Hammond, La. for a Sunday, Oct. 17, match against Southeastern (5-6-2, 3-3-2 SLC) at 1:00 p.m. Sunday's game will be aired on ESPN+.

Thursday's matchup with Nicholls is a return game after HBU earned a 7-0 win at home in the last meeting on Sep. 19. Noor Abukishk and Katie Marker each scored two goals in the win while the Huskies totaled 37 shot attempts, the highest single-game total in the conference this season. In HBU's last meeting with the Lady Lions on Sep. 16 in Houston the Huskies fell by a 2-0 score.

HBU is coming off a 1-1 weekend that included a home shutout victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and a road loss at UIW. Freshman Felicia Hernandez and sophomore Xya Balderas each scored their first goals of the year in the 2-0 win over the Islanders while Karla Ramirez made four saves for the shutout. At UIW, the Huskies were out-shot 15-6 in the 2-0 shutout loss.

Nicholls has been held scoreless in Southland Conference play this season with junior midfielder Tabea Czech leading the team with five shots on goal. SLU has played just three home games to this point in the season with a 1-1-1 record on their home turf, tying McNeese and losing to Northwestern State last weekend. In SLC play, senior Mia Milton is the lone Lady Lion player with multiple goals, scoring twice with both proving to be game-winners.

After this weekend's contests the Huskies will have just two more games to close out the season, first traveling to Lake Charles, La. to face McNeese on Oct. 22 before hosting Northwestern State on Oct. 26 for Senior Night.
