HOUSTON – HBU opens its final homestand of the 2019-20 men's basketball season this Wednesday when the Nicholls Colonels visit Sharp Gym for a 7:00 p.m. Southland Conference contest. Husky fans can watch or listen to all the action on the Husky Sports Network with Lonnie King providing play-by-play via HBUHuskies.com.
When the two teams met earlier this season in Thibodaux, La., HBU (3-22, 3-13 SLC) trailed by 12 with just three minutes remaining but was able to pull within five before ultimately falling by eight, 91-83. Warith Alatishe led the Colonels (18-10, 12-5 SLC) with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds while four other players scored in double-figures. For the Huskies,
Ian DuBose led all players with 26 points and 12 boards with
Jalon Gates scoring 15 and
Myles Pierre contributing 13.
This past Saturday at Sam Houston State the Huskies nearly came back from nine down with just 1:12 to play, pulling to within two with 25 seconds remaining, before ultimately falling 77-73.
Philip McKenzie finished the evening with his first career double-double, totaling 11 points and 11 rebounds, while DuBose led the Huskies with 20 points.

Jackson Stent combined to add 29 points off the bench.
In Nicholls' last game, an 84-65 loss at Central Arkansas that snapped a four-game winning streak, the Colonels were out-rebounded 48-21 and shot just 35.9 percent from the field. Four different players are averaging double-figures in scoring for Nicholls with senior Dexter McClanahan leading the way at 13.6 ppg while Alatishe leads the team on the boards, pulling down 8.4 rpg and also contributing 11.1 ppg.
HBU will host McNeese on Saturday, Feb. 29, for Senior Night and to close the home portion of the schedule. Senior recognition will take place shortly before tip-off which is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
