HOUSTON – HBU women's basketball faces the McMurry War Hawks to continue non-conference play on Saturday, Dec. 12 at noon in Sharp Gym.
The Huskies (1-2) are coming off their first victory of the season this past Saturday. Sophomore Abbey Sutherland led the way with 15 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Sophomore Kennedy Wilson was just behind with her career high 14 points. Leading the team in rebounds is junior Marilyn Nzoiwu averaging seven rebounds per game with Sophomore N'Denasija Collins right behind with 6.7 average.
McMurry has yet to see a game this season and will travel to Houston with leading returners Destiny Matthews, Cassidy Melton, Taya Bridges, D'Asia White and Trinity Meador.
The two teams last met in the 2018-2019 season; the Huskies emerged with a 92-41 win. Junior Julija Vujakovic had 13 points to go with six reboounds and four blocks while Nzoiwu also added six rebounds. The Huskies went 49.3 to the War Hawks 29.3 in field goal percentage.
Huskies play their next non-conference home game Monday at 5 p.m. inside Sharp Gym to face LeTourneau.
