NEW ORLEANS - After a close first set, Ole Miss's defense took over in the second and third for a 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-11) over HBU in the opening match of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Volleyball Classic Friday afternoon at Devlin Fieldhouse.

Kelly Colwell each had six kills, with Colwell adding nine digs and Vivens six for the Huskies (3-2). Freshman right side
Anna Gadway added five kills and three blocks, junior setter
Morgan Dewyer had 17 assists and senior libero
Hannah Lewis posted 13 digs.
Anna Bair ahd 14 kills and nine digs and Emily Stroup had 11 kills and five digs for the Rebels (1-3). Lauren Bars recorded 35 assists and Nicole Purcell had 19 digs.
The Rebels hit .323 for the match and held the Huskies to a .030 hitting percentage. Ole Miss also outdug HBU, 48-35, and had a slight edge in blocks, 6.0-5.0.
The Huskies will play a pair of matches Saturday, first taking on host Tulane at 2 p.m., followed by Missouri State at 7 p.m.
