NATCHITOCHES, La. – HBU won the first set, but Northwestern State rebounded to take the next three for a 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22) victory over the Huskies in Southland Conference volleyball Saturday at Prather Coliseum.
Sophomore outside hitter
Kelly Colwell led the Huskies (9-8, 1-1 SLC) with 14 kills and added seven digs, while junior outside hitter
Mikayla Vivens recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 18 digs. Sophomore middle blocker
Ebonie Ballesteros posted 10 kills and five blocks, while junior setter
Morgan Dewyer had 43 assists, four kills and 13 digs. Junior middle blocker
Megan Patillo and junior outside hitter
Ashtyn Richey each had six kills. Senikor libero
Camie Copeland had 17 digs and five assists and senior defensive specialist
Hannah Lewis had 11 digs.
Hannah Brister had 20 kills and 13 digs for the Lady Demons (9-7, 1-1) and Alexis Warren also had a double-double with 14 kills and 17 digs. Cayman Sutton handed out 23 assists and had eight digs, while Skylar Besch had 18 assists. Megan Lohmiller had 22 digs and Haley Hoang had 12.
NSU hit .238 for the match, with HBU hitting an even .200. The Lady Demons outdug the Huskies, 80-74, and HBU held an 8.0-5.0 advantage in blocks. HBU had one ace and 14 service errors and NSU had two aces and 16 service errors.
The Huskies return home for a pair of conference matches next week, first hosting Nicholls Thursday, followed by New Orleans Saturday at Sharp Gym.
