HOUSTON - HBU played catch-up over the final three sets, but after extending the match to a fourth set, Nicholls was able to hold off the Huskies for a 3-1 (25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23) victory in Southland Conference volleyball Thursday night at Sharp Gym.

Mikayla Vivens recorded her fourth-straight double-double for the Huskies (9-9, 1-2 SLC) with 16 kills and 15 digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Kelly Colwell had nine kills and led HBU with 17 digs. Junior right side
Ashtyn Richey added eight kills, sophomore
Ebonie Ballesteros had six and sophomore middle blocker
Jada Allen had four. Junior setter
Morgan Dewyer had five kills, 28 assists and 16 digs. Senior
Hannah Lewis chipped in with 11 digs and senior
Camie Copeland had nine.
Emily Gauthreaux led the way for the Colonels (8-7, 2-2) with 16 kills and 12 digs, while Katie Jones had 10 kills. Meghan Wozniak added seven kills, 40 assists and eight digs, Aalyia Burres had seven kills and five blocks. Kate Hoerdeman led Nicholls with 20 digs, Emily Venable came up with 14 and Kylie Lockhart had 12.
Nicholls hit .241 for the match, while HBU hit .163. The Huskies outdug the Colonels, 76-75, and outaced them, 7-5, but Nicholls outblocked HBU, 10.0-6.0.
The Huskies return to action when they host New Orleans Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sharp Gym. Fans with tickets to Saturday's HBU football game against UIW can show their tickets at the door for free admission to the volleyball match.
