HUNTSVILLE- HBU Softball dropped game three of the series to Sam Houston State by a score of 8-0 Saturday night.
HBU (14-17, 4-10) were held to three hits in the series finale as junior
Amber Lotz went 2-3 with two singles in the game to lead the Huskies. Sophomore
Sierra Humphrey was the only other Husky to reach base as she singled to go 1-2.
Elliot Estes (5-4) got the loss in the circle for HBU as she tossed 4.1 innings giving up one run on three hits, with two walks and three strikeouts.
Jessica Patak and
Emma Guindon each tossed .2 innings to close out the game.
Sam Houston (19-19, 11-4) collected 11 hits in the game with four going for extra bases. The contribution was spread out by the Bearkat hitters as seven different batters recorded a hit. Megan McDonald went a perfect 3-3 at the plate scoring twice, with one RBI, and drew a walk. Ashley Goetz went 2-4 with a double, scored once and had two RBI's, and Brooke Malia added a two run homerun.
Lindsay Mcleod (12-7) spun a shutout for the Bearkats going six innings giving up three hits and striking out nine.
