BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- HBU softball crushes 6 extra base hits on way to victory over Evansville 6-2. The remainder of the Samford Tournament has been canceled with the Huskies going 3-0 during the tournament.
HBU (8-6) the Huskies combine for 11 total hits. Four Huskies were able to collect two hits on the day lead by
Heidi Jaquez who got the scoring started in the second inning with a two-run homerun to left center scoring
Riley Bullen.
Brooke Bushman had another 2-4 day scoring twice.
Riley Bullen went 2-3 scoring once, and
Amber Lotz went 2-3 with two doubles and 2 RBI's. Freshman
Caitlyn Brockway added 2 more RBI's on a sixth inning homerun to left field scoring Jaquez.
Elliot Estes (3-1) got the win in the circle going 6.1 innings giving up two runs on five hits, striking out one.
Emma Guindon came on for the last two outs in a non save situation striking out one.
Evansville (6-8) had 5 hits as a team lead by Katie McLean and Lindsay Renneisen. McLean went 2-3 coming around to score once, while Renneisen hit a solo shot to start off the seventh inning. Morgan Florey added a 1-3 day driving in one run.
Morgan Florey (0-2) took the loss in the circle for Evansville going 6 innings giving up six runs on eleven hits with 9 strikeouts.
