WBB: Huskies Set to Open SLC Play by Hosting SFA
HOUSTON, TX- HBU Women's Basketball is set to open Southland Conference play as the Huskies host Stephen F. Austin Wednesday Dec. 18th at 7:00 P.M. in Sharp Gym.
HBU (4-5) is coming off a narrow loss against Texas Tech on the road Sunday afternoon.
Megan Valdez-Crader has stepped up in recent weeks and is HBU's leading scorer on the season averaging 9.7 points per game.
Timia Jefferson is behind her with nine points a game. The Huskies relied on the post work of
Marilyn Nzoiwu their last time on the hardwood as Nzoiwu grabbed 18 rebounds against the Red Raiders. Nzoiwu leads the Huskies in rebounds on the season averaging five a game.
Stephen F. Austin (6-2) is riding a four game win streak with wins over UC Santa Barbara and Nevada. The Lady Jacks have a trio of scorers that average double digits led by Stephanie Visshcer with 13.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Aiyana Johnson and Marissa Banfield follow her with 11.4 points per game with Johnson adding a team high 7.9 rebounds a game.
HBU will then return Saturday Dec.21st at 2:00 P.M. to face off with Southeastern Louisiana in Sharp Gym.
