WBB: Huskies Take On Lady Red Raiders in Lubbock

HBU will play Texas Tech for the second-straight season

LUBBOCK, Texas – For the second year in a row the HBU women's basketball team will travel west to face Texas Tech inside United Supermarkets Arena on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Huskies (4-4) are coming off a 72-65 road win over ULM last Saturday. Junior guard Megan Valdez-Crader led the way with a career-high 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the floor while also pulling down six rebounds. Freshman Timia Jefferson leads the team in scoring, averaging 10.4 points per game, while fellow newcomer N'Denasija Collins is pulling down a team-best 4.3 rebounds per game. HBU is currently 2-3 on the road this season.
 
Texas Tech (6-0) is one of just 14 undefeated teams left in the country and boasts an average scoring margin of plus-30.6, having held every opponent to no more than 60 points in a game. All five Lady Red Raider starters are averaging double-figures in scoring with senior Brittany Brewer and freshman Alexis Tucker both averaging double-doubles.
 
When the two teams met last season, Tech emerged with an 82-76 victory thanks to a 34 point, 13 rebound performance from Brewer. Taylor Kollmorgen scored 10 points to go with five rebounds while Valdez-Crader had 10 rebounds, seven points and six assists.
 
HBU opens Southland Conference play at home this Wednesday when the Huskies host Stephen F. Austin at 7:00 p.m. inside Sharp Gym.
