HOUSTON - HBU won the first two sets, but Central Arkansas battled back to claim a 3-2 (25-27, 18-25, 25-21, 25-17, 15-12) victory in Southland Conference volleyball Thursday night in Sharp Gym.
Junior outside hitter
Mikayla Vivens recorded 20 kills and 13 digs for the Huskies (15-13, 7-6 SLC), while sophomore outside hitter
Kelly Colwell also had a double-double with 16 kills and 18 digs. Sophomore middle blocker
Ebonie Ballesteros posted 13 kills and nine blocks and junior middle blocker
Megan Patillo had nine kills. Junior setter
Morgan Dewyer dished out 51 assists with 16 digs and five kills. Senior libero
Hannah Lewis came up with 20 digs and senior defensive specialist
Camie Copeland had 17.
Alexis Stumbough had 18 kills and 18 digs for UCA (13-13, 7-6), while Abbie Harry had 17 kills and 15 digs. Madi Bowles added 12 kills, Amari Mitchell had six blocks and Ravin Rhodes had five. Bailey Waddington had 27 assists and Elizabeth Armstrong had 26. Emily Doss recorded 35 digs.
UCA hit .208, while HBU hit .203. Each team had 11 blocks and four aces and the Sugar Bears outdug the Huskies, 93-91.
The Huskies return to action when they host their final home match of the season and honor Lewis and Copeland on Senior Day against Northwestern State Saturday at 1 p.m. in Sharp Gym.
