TULSA, Okla. – HBU continues its season-opening road swing with its second-consecutive game in Tulsa on Friday evening inside the Mabee Center when the Huskies' men's basketball team faces off against Oral Roberts at 7:30 p.m. HBU fans can catch all the action on the Husky Sports Network audio broadcast with Lonnie King available at HBUHuskies.com.
 
The Huskies (0-1) dropped their opener at Tulsa on Tuesday afternoon, 80-72, after leading for more than 22 minutes of the game. Junior Ian DuBose recorded the eighth double-double of his career with a team-high 20 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Jalon Gates added 16 points for the Huskies while Ty Dalton ended the day with eight rebounds, six points, five assists and three steals.
 
A pair of Huskies made their HBU debuts in the starting lineup with junior post Ryan Gomes scoring five points with three rebounds and freshman point guard Myles Pierre adding seven points on 3-of-4 shooting. As a team, HBU and Tulsa were even on the boards with each side grabbing 40 rebounds. 16 of the Huskies' rebounds came on the offensive end.
 
ORU (0-1) dropped its opening matchup at Oklahoma State on Wednesday evening by a score of 80-75, trimming a 16-point second half deficit down to one multiple times. Graduate transfer Deondre Burns led ORU with 21 points while fellow senior Emmanuel Nzekwesi posted a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman Max Abmas added 14 for the Golden Eagles.
 
In the opener against OSU, the Golden Eagles attempted 32 three-pointers out of 71 total shot attempts, connecting on 21.9 percent from deep. ORU was even on the boards with each side finishing with 46 rebounds.
 
The Huskies and Golden Eagles were short-lived conference foes, facing each other twice during the 2013-14 season, HBU's first in the Southland Conference and one of just two seasons ORU spent in the league. ORU won both meetings that season.
 
HBU will travel Midland, Texas next week to take on last season's national championship runner up, Texas Tech, on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center on the campus of Midland College at 7:00 p.m.
