WBB: HBU Prepped For Quick Two Game Road Swing This Weekend
HOUSTON - HBU women's basketball begins the first part of its quick two game road trip this weekend as it takes on the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles Saturday at 2 p.m.
HBU (2-2) is coming off a loss to Houston last Sunday, which saw
Megan Valdez-Crader get her first double-digit scoring performance of the season. Eyes will be on her and
Lauren Calver to lead the way for the Huskies offensively to go with the strong starts of the HBU newcomers.
Kennedy Wilson and
N'Denasija Collins have been steller in their start of their HBU careers with both of them averaging more than six points a game to go with four and five rebounds per game, respectively.Â
Oral Roberts (3-3) is coming off a loss in the final seconds to Tulsa that saw Keni Jo Lippe put up 21 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Macy Gore and Rylie Torrey both added 11 points in the loss. Lippe is the Golden Eagles leading scorer averaging 19 points a game followed by Torrey who is averaging 15.Â
The Huskies will then quickly travel to Kansas to face off with the Wichita State Shockers Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Wichita State (2-2) has won two-straight games after stumbling out of the gate against Oral Roberts and Northern Iowa. The Shockers have posted back-to-back wins starting with a 69-63 win over Southern University, followed by a 88-80 win of Louisiana Tech. Wichita State has two players averaging double-digit points led by DJ McCarty with 10.8 and followed by Seraphine Bastin with 10.3. Bastin also leads the team with six rebounds a game and nine assists on the season.Â
