HOUSTON – The HBU women's soccer team will close out the 2019 season and honor the squad's two seniors this Friday at Sorrels Field against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with a 5:00 p.m. start time.
The Senior Night recognition for seniors
Whitney Johnson and
Alicia Torrez will take place 10 minutes prior to the start of the game.
The Huskies (2-15-0, 1-9-0 SLC) and Islanders (9-7-1, 6-3-1 SLC) played to a 0-0 stalemate the last time they met at Sorrels Field, two seasons ago.
HBU junior
Avery Cortez leads the team with six goals, which ties her for eighth in the conference in goals scored. Additionally, she has a pair of assists for a team-leading 14 points on the season. In goal,
Ashtyn Franks has seen the majority of the minutes but has combined with
Karla Ramirez for 83 saves on the year.
The Islanders are led by junior Abby Deakin who has totaled seven goals this season. In goal, junior Kyleigh Hall is allowing less than one goal per game and leads the league in saves and goals against average.
