ABILENE, Texas - HBU hit .313 as a team in making quick work on the road of Abilene Christian, 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-12), in Southland Conference volleyball Tuesday night in Moody Coliseum.
Sophomore outside hitter
Kelly Colwell hit .406 with 15 kills and digs, while junior right side
Ashtyn Richey hit .474 with 10 kills for the Huskies (15-11, 7-4 SLC). Junior outside hitter
Mikayla Vivens recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Junior setter
Morgan Dewyer posted 37 assists, 12 digs, three kills, three aces and a pair of blocks.
Marybeth Sandercox and Kennedy Shelstead each had eight kills for the Wildcats (5-16, 3-8). Lindsey Toney had five kills and nine digs and Madison Rohre had 27 assists.
The Huskies outdug the Wildcats, 42-34, and ACU held a slight advantage in blocks, 5.0-4.0. HBU held ACU to a .124 hitting percentage.
ACU held a 14-10 lead in the first set, but HBU reeled off a five-point run behind a pair of kills by Colwell to go up by one. With the set tied, 19-19, the Huskies scored three-straight points on kills by Vivens, Colwell and sophomore middle blocker
Ebonie Ballesteros. Colwell closed out the set with back-to-back kills for the 25-22 decision.'

Jada Allen to go up by four. The Wildcats got back within two at 22-20, but the Huskies answered with a pair of points, then Richey had the decisive kills in a 25-21 victory.
The third set was all HBU, as a four-point spurt led to an 8-4 lead and a five-point run, capped by back-to-back aces by Dewyer, extended the advantage to 17-8. Another four points in a row made the score 22-11 and, after an ACU sideout, HBU scored the last three points of the match for a 25-12 win.
HBU hosts league-leading Stephen F. Austin Saturday at 1 p.m. in Sharp Gym.
