LAKE CHARLES, La- HBU women's basketball looks to carry over their strong performance in the fourth quarter against Southeastern Louisiana as they hit the road to take on McNeese. The Huskies will get their opportunity to take down the Cowgirls Saturday night at 1 p.m. in the H&HPC. HBU will be facing McNeese who had their bye earlier this week, but is coming off two consecutive wins in Southland Conference play.

HBU (6-10, 1-5 SLC) Julija Vujakovic, Marilyn Nzoiwu, Natalia Gwarda, and Bria Johnson all made their first starts of the season Wednesday night against the Lady Lions of Southeastern. Amanda Johnson in her second start of the led the team in scoring with 23 points including going 4-9 from three-point range. While Megan Valdez-Crader came off the bench and added 20 points of her own on 7-14 shooting with five rebounds and three steals. The pair combined to score 23 of the Huskies 32 fourth quarter points.  

McNeese (4-13, 2-4 SLC) last played Jan.19 against the same Southeastern team the Huskies just faced off with, but the Cowgirls had better results as they outscored the Lady Lions 18-7 in the fourth for a come from behind win. Callie Maddox led the Cowgirls with 29 points and 10 rebounds to record a double-double. Bre'Ashlee Jones followed that up with a double-double of her own recording 11 points and 13 rebounds.

HBU will return to Sharp Gym next week to face off against Incarnate Word and Texas A&M Corpus Christi before going back on the road for one game against Stephen F. Austin.
