Amanda Johnson Shooting 43% From Three Point Range in Conference Play

HOUSTON, TX- HBU women's basketball welcomes Sam Houston to Sharp Gym this Saturday at 2:00p.m. The Huskies are coming off a loss to Abilene Christian 62-72 this past Wednesday. The Huskies currently sit in a three way tie for 8th place in Southland Conference play and the Bearkats are in a tie for 6th place.

HBU (6-8, 1-3 SLC) struggled in the third quarter their last time out, but look to get back into the win column this weekend with a win against the Bearkats. Amanda Johnson leads the Huskies in scoring with 12.1 points per game, while coming off the bench. Megan Valdez-Crader had a slower start to the season scoring wise, but is averaging 13.8 points per game in conference. Valdez-Crader has also done a good job of getting to the free-throw line with 30 attempts in four games of conference play.

Sam Houston (7-7, 2-2 SLC) is coming off a 61-76 loss on the road against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Bearkats have three players averaging double-digit scoring on the season led by Jaylonn Walker. Walker has been extremely consistent and is currently averaging 15.7 points per game and is averaging just below four assists per game. These numbers are virtually identical to her Southland Conference only numbers.

Following the game against Sam Houston, the Huskies will be on the road traveling to Louisiana to face off against Southeastern La. Jan. 23rd and McNeese on the 26th. HBU will then have a two game homestand against Incarnate Word and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
