HOUSTON – HBU could not put together a consistent offensive attack in a 3-1 (25-22, 24-26, 25-20, 25-21) loss to New Orleans in the Southland Conference volleyball opener Thursday night at Sharp Gym.

Mikayla Vivens had a career-high 18 kills and seven digs for the Huskies (7-8, 0-1 SLC), while senior middle blocker

Ashtyn Richey each had eight kills and freshman outside hitter
Jada Allen added a career-high seven. Senior setter
Madison O'Brien had 41 assists, six kills and digs, while junior libero
Hannah Lewis recorded only the sixth 30-dig performance in a four-set match in HBU history with an even career-high of 30.
Three players posted double-digit kills for the Privateers (7-8, 1-0), led by Brianna Vega with 20 to go along with 11 digs. Kaitlyn Grice had 15 kills and Blessing Dunn also double-doubled with 13 kills and a team-leading 17 digs. Ehize Omoghibo added nine kills, while Sarah Thomas had 50 assists and six digs. Andrea Nava came up with 15 digs.
UNO hit .284, while HBU hit .210 for the match. Each team had 66 digs, the Huskies held a 5-3 advantage in blocks, but the Privateers took the edge in aces, 9-6.
The Huskies host Nicholls Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
