HOUSTON - HBU kicks off the 2018 season at home against NCAA Division II Southwest Baptist Saturday at 6 p.m. at Husky Stadium. The game will be shown live on the Southland Digital Network and the DNA Studios audio broadcast can be found on HBUHuskies.com.

The Huskies will have a new-look offense, but sophomore quarterback Bailey Zappe returns at the helm after completing a school record 150-of-266 passes for 1,548 yards, five touchdowns and 10 interceptions in his rookie campaign. Sophomore LaDarius Dickens is HBU's leading returning rusher with 103 yards and senior David Racine is the leading returning receiver with 207 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

HBU's defense is anchored by junior defensive end Andre Walker, who led all Southland Conference defensive linemen with 65 tackles, while ranking sixth with 14.5 tackles for loss and tied for 16th with 4.0 sacks. The Huskies have a pair of all-conference selections at cornerback in seniors Raphael Lewis and Derek Broussard. Lewis was a first-team pick last year, recording four interceptions, including two returned for touchdowns, while Broussard missed the 2017 season with an injury after earning honorable mention in 2016.

SBU went 5-5 last season and 4-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Bearcats are likely to be led by quarterback Dylan Mountain, who appeared in four games last year, completing 4-of-6 passes for 25 yards and rushing for 78 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, linebacker Tyler Curts racked up 101 tackles in 2017, while De'shawn Tone led SBU with 6.5 sacks and Cory Hanger recorded five interceptions.

HBU will wear all white at home for the first time in program history for the Wakiza White Out. The game will serve as the official Husky Stadium debut of HBU's newest live mascot, Kiza III. The first 150 students with a valid/current HBU ID will receive a free Wakiza White Out t-shirt.

The Huskies open the season with three-straight games at home, with Saturday's game followed by a pair of Southland Conference contests against McNeese on Sept. 8, then Abilene Christian on Family Weekend Sept. 15.
