Emma Dooher put a shot on goal in the first minute of the second half which was the last shot the Huskies would get off the rest of the game. The Lopes got their goal in the 66
th minute when a pair of passes from Fiona Samodurov and McKenzie Cook found Jaycee Iranshad in the box in front of the goal just a few yards out for the goal.
GCU peppered 25 shots in the match with six of those on goal while HBU put two shots out of five on goal. The Lopes also held a 10-to-3 advantage in corner kicks. Guevara finished the match with four saves.
"The game was certainly a back-and-forth game with dangerous chances coming from both sides," said head coach
Misty Jones. "Alanis had a stellar performance that kept GCU at bay. They were able to capitalize on a counter for the game-winner. We are a little thin in depth and a little banged up which allowed some players to play in some new positions. The girls played with heart and tenacity. We play a tough schedule on the road to prepare us for conference play. I'm happy with the adjustments we were able to make and the fight in our team."
The Huskies remain in Arizona for their next match on Sunday, Aug. 26, at 7:00 p.m. when they face off against Pac-12 member Arizona in Tucson.
