Lauren Calver score big to lead HBU women's basketball to a 67-56 win over Incarnate Word Wednesday night at Sharp Gym.
Carr led the Huskies (10-17, 6-11 SLC), shooting 44.4 percent from the floor and a perfect 10-of-10 from the free-throw line with 18 points and seven rebounds. Johnson shot 36.3 percent from the field with 15 points and five boards.
Lauren Calver added 12 points, nine rebounds and two steals, while sophomore guard
Britta Daub went 50.0 percent from the floor and hit 2-of-3 shots from behind the arc. She added eight points and dished out seven assists.
Imani Robinson headed the scoring for the Cardinals (4-24, 3-14 SLC), shooting 53.3 percent from the field with 18 points, three rebounds and one steal. Liz Holter put up nine points, brought down four boards and had two blocks. Other contributors included Quincy Baker with six points, four rebounds and four blocks and Melina Merritt with six points, three rebounds, two steals and two assists.
HBU shot 40.7 percent from the field, went 4-of-10 from the 3-point range and 19-of-14 from the free-throw line. UIW shot 32.3 percent from the floor, went 4-of-21 from behind the arc and 10-of-20 from the behind the line. HBU outrebounded 45-34.
The Huskies held a 10-3 advantage late in the first quarter, but the Cardinals made it a way one-point game with a six point run. The Huskies claimed a five-point run that ended with a Cardinal three. Taylor matched the shot the very next play to end the first, 17-12.

Shannon Jones followed with a jumper to extend the lead by eight points. Olivia Noah put up the Cardinals next eight points, including two shots from the 3-point range, putting them within one. A Carr jumper broke her streak, but another Cardinal hit a jumper. A jumper by junior center
Kennedy Collins and back-to-back buckets by Calver sent the teams into the second half, 26-33.
The Huskies led for as many as 12 points late in the third quarter, after buckets by Johnson, Calver and Carr. Liz Holter hit a three for the Cardinals, but once again Daub matched the effort with a three of her own and was immediately followed with a three from Johnson. HBU ended the third with its largest lead of 15 points.
The Cardinals went on a seven run to open the fourth that was broken up by a layup from Calver. HBU and UIW went shot-for-shot the next 14 points, until three Cardinal fouls sent the Huskies to line for five points to capture the win, 67-56.
