The Huskies (9-17, 5-11) are coming off of a 67-61 overtime win against McNeese, where sophomore guard
Shannon Jones and junior
Amanda Johnson scored in double-figures, while sophomore guard
Sydney Carr gave a double-double performance. Johnson is sixth in the conference with an average of 15.2 points per game and pulls down 4.2 boards. She is followed by sophomore forward
Lauren Calver, who averages 8.0 points and 4.5 rebounds and Carr, who averages 7.8 points and 4.0 rebounds a game. Junior center
Veronika Kirienko contributes 6.0 points and leads the HBU rebounding with 5.7 boards a game, while junior center
Natalia Gwarda leads the conference in blocks, averaging 1.8 a game.
The Cardinals (4-23, 3-13 SLC) are led by Imani Robinson, who is shooting 34.5 percent from the field with 12.1 points and 4.8 rebounds a game. Sydnee Wynn adds 7.7 points and leads the team in rebounding with 7.1 a game. Other contributors include Gabbi Bowie with 6.7 points and Quincy Baker with 6.3 points and 4.9 rebounds.
The last match-up between the Huskies and the Cardinals was at McDermott Center Jan. 24, 2018. HBU earned the win, 58-56.
HBU will conclude the 2018 season Saturday, March 3 at 2 p.m., as they welcome Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Huskies will also be honoring senior forward
Blair Gillard.
