WBB: Huskies Tip Season Off Against McMurry
HOUSTON, Texas- The HBU Women's Basketball team prepares to Tip off the season Sunday evening against Mcmurry University at 4:00 p.m. in Sharp Gym. Live broadcasting will begin 10 minutes prior to tip. The link will be on hbuhuskies.com
HBU (0-0) finished the 2017-18 season on a high note winning 4 of their last 6 to finish 10th in the Southland Conference standings with a 6-12 record and a 10-18 record overall. The Huskies returns 14 players from the previous season. One of those is Senior guard Amanda Johnson who was named to the Southland Conference All-Academic team and Academic All District team. Johnson started all 28 games for the Huskies averaging 34.4 minutes played, 15.4 points, and 4.1 rebounds a game. Also returning for the Huskies will be Junior forward Lauren Calver who averaged 8 points and 4.8 rebounds a game.
Head Coach Donna Finnie is entering her sixth season at the helm for the Huskies
Mcmurry comes to Houston after dropping their season opener to East Texas Baptist University and playing an exhibition Saturday at Lamar.
The Huskies return to Sharp Gym Nov. 14 Wednesday night at 7p.m. against Texas A&M International.
