SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The HBU women's soccer team is off to its best start to a Southland Conference schedule since joining the league in 2013, sporting a 4-0-1 record and owning the top spot in the conference standings. The Huskies (6-5-1, 4-0-1 SLC) play just one game this weekend with an off day on Sunday. In addition to the five-game unbeaten streak in conference play this season, HBU looks to keep a five-match unbeaten streak versus Incarnate Word (1-7-1, 1-2-1 SLC) going as the Huskies are 5-0-0 all-time against UIW. Over the course of those five meetings, HBU has out-scored the Cardinals 16-3.

Seniors Sabriah Spencer and Gabby Rodriguez are tied for second in the Southland in points in conference play with six apiece. Rodriguez has two goals and two assists in SLC play while Spencer has scored one goal and is tied for the league lead with four assists. For the season, Spencer is one of four Huskies with three goals while leading the team in points with 10 (3 goals, 4 assists). She has been among the most accurate offensive players in the country this season, putting 64.3 percent of her shots attempts on target which ranks her 25th in the nation. Rodriguez, along with sophomores Avery Cortez and Jessica Nevils, also have three goals this season.

Incarnate Word enters Friday's game having been out-scored 27-6 on the season. After losing the first five games of the season, the Cardinals are 1-2-1 over the last four and boast the same record at home. Three different players have seen time in goal for the Cardinals, combining for a 2.93 goals against average and a save percentage of .654. Offensively, freshman Gio Olivieri leads the team with three points (1 goal, 1 assist).

The Huskies will be at home the following weekend for their final home games of the season. Senior Night will be on Friday, Oct. 12, when HBU plays Northwestern State at 7:00 p.m. at Sorrels Field. The Huskies' home finale will then be against Central Arkansas on the afternoon of Sunday, Oct. 14, with a 1:00 p.m. start.
