BEAUMONT, Texas – HBU's women's soccer team saw its season come to a close on Wednesday evening at the LU Soccer Complex, falling to a Stephen F. Austin goal in the final three minutes in the first round of the Southland Conference tournament.

HBU (10-8-1) earned an early corner kick within the first six minutes and the Huskies' Sabriah Spencer put the first shot on goal of the game with a header in the 10th minute but SFA (6-8-3) goalkeeper Allison Halliday. Jessica Nevils put her own attempt on target at the 18:50 mark but Halliday was again there for the save. The Huskies managed four shots on goal in total during the first half with SFA matching them in that department. HBU goalkeeper Alanis Guevara kept things even, sending the match into the half scoreless.

The Ladyjacks attempted the first to shots of the second half with the third forcing Guevara into her first save of the second half in the 58th minute. Things remained deadlocked and Nevils put the only shot on the mark in the second period for the Huskies at the 87:16 mark. SFA countered quickly with Katelyn Termini dribbling into the box and sneaking a shot through the legs of HBU's Baylii Bieke and tucking a goal just inside the left post in the 88th minute to secure the win for SFA.

Guevara finished with six saves for the Huskies and Nevils led the team with a pair of shots on goal. SFA out-shot the Huskies 14-to-9 while HBU held an 8-to-2 advantage in corner kicks.

"This was a tough way to end a fantastic season," said head coach Misty Jones. "I appreciate the hard work and dedication from our seniors. They have left a lasting impact on our program and will be missed."

HBU finished the season with an 8-2-1 SLC record to place second, matching the program's best-ever regular season conference finish.
