HOUSTON – Sophomore guard 
Sydney Carr shot for a career-high, outscoring all players in the loss to Southeastern Louisiana in Southland Conference women's basketball Wednesday night at Sharp Gym.
Carr shot 100.0 percent (8-of-8) from the field with 21 points, five rebounds and two steals. Junior guard 
Amanda Johnson accounted for 10 points, five rebounds and two blocks. Sophomore forward 
Lauren Calver scored eight points, while sophomore guard 
Britta Daub put up five points and handed out six assists. Both Calver and Daub led the Huskies (5-11, 1-5 SLC) with seven boards each.
Southeastern Louisiana (2-15, 1-5 SLC) had three players in double digits. Taylin Underwood and Jaclyn Scholvin lead the Lady Lions with 20 points each. Underwood shot 46.7 percent from the floor, shot 3-of-6 from the 3-point line and brought down seven rebounds. Scholvin shot 43.8 percent from the floor and went 2-of-5 from the 3-point range. Charliee Dugas contributed 12 points, while Caitlyn Williams and Jyar Francis added seven points.
HBU shot 34.5 percent from the field, 3-of-12 from behind the arc and 20-of-29 from the free-throw line. SELU shot 39.1 percent from the field, 7-of-20 from the 3-point line and 15-of-25 from behind the line. HBU outrebounded the Lady Lions 45-39.
HBU led at the start of the second quarter 16-15. Neither team scored more than two points than the other for the next 11 points. SELU scored the next nine points to lead 31-20. After a layup from sophomore guard 
Shannon Jones, the Huskies scored their next four points from behind the line, while SELU posted five points. With four seconds left in the half, Johnson drained a 3-pointer, but the Lady Lions walked away with the final two points to end the half, 38-29.
SELU went on a 13-4 run to start the third quarter. Calver and Johnson were responsible for the next four points, but HBU went into the fourth quarter with a 16-point disadvantage. The Huskies started the fourth with an 8-4 run keyed by five points from Carr. Despite Carr's 15 point fourth quarter effort, the Huskies couldn't recover.
HBU will remain home Saturday, Jan. 20 to face McNeese at 2 p.m. They will travel to take on Incarnate Word Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m.
The Huskies were down early 13-6 in the first quarter. A shot from the 3-point range by Taylor started a seven point run. Collins accounted for five points with a 3-pointer with just seconds remaining in the first.
