Amanda Johnson leads the Huskies (4-10, 0-4 SLC) shooting 47.2 percent from the floor and 32.5 percent (13-of-40) from the 3-point range with 16.6 points and 5.4 rebounds a game. She is ranked third in the conference in scoring and fifth in field goal percentage. Sophomore guard
Sophie Taylor is averaging 9.6 points a game, while sophomore forward
Lauren Calver scores 7.8 points a game overall and 11.5 points in the conference. Junior center
Veronika Kirienko contributes 7.4 points and 5.5 rebounds a game. She is ranked third in the conference in field goal percentage (48.9 percent).
Sam Houston State (3-10, 0-4 SLC) is led by Jenniffer Orama, who averages 11.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. Lydia Baxter contributes 7.8 points and 6.4 rebounds, averaging 9.0 points in conference alone. Akarian Morgan leads the team with 26 steals and averages 8.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in conference action.
The Huskies lead the all-time series record 8-5, splitting last season's meetings. HBU beat the BearKats on Jan. 2 at home, 61-51, but fell on the road on Feb. 11, 78-63.
The Huskies will return for a two-game home swing, beginning Wednesday, Jan. 17 against Southeastern Louisiana at 7 p.m. and ending with McNeese Saturday, Jan. 20.
