HOUSTON – After a 2-1 start through three Southland Conference road games, the HBU women's soccer team gears up for a three-match conference homestand beginning this weekend when the Huskies host Nicholls on Friday, Sep. 29, and Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday, Oct. 1, at Sorrels Field.

HBU (3-4-1, 2-1-0 SLC) earned a pair of 1-0 road victories against Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State last weekend, with both goals coming from senior Ellee Hall and goalkeeper Alanis Guevara making 18 saves en route to the pair of shutouts. Hall, Guevara and redshirt-freshman Megan Rickert swept the SLC Player of the Week honors thanks to their performances.

Hall is now tied for the league-lead with five goals on the season and three game-winners. Her last goal, against SHSU, gave her 20 for her career and put her alone in fifth on the Huskies' all-time list. Guevara is now averaging eight saves per match, the eighth-best mark in the country. As a team, the Huskies are third in the country with nine saves per match.

The Colonels (4-6-0, 1-2-0 SLC) split a pair of home matches last weekend, falling 4-0 to Incarnate Word before picking up a 2-1 win over Abilene Christian on Sunday. Senior Emily Werenskiold and junior Haylee Atwell are tied for the team-lead with three goals a piece with Werenskiold leading the team in points, with eight. Roosa Hurmerinta and Taylor Benoit have split time in goal evenly with both owning records of 2-3-0. Hurmerinta holds a 1.00 goals against average and an .808 save percentage.

Southeastern Louisiana (3-6-1, 1-2-0 SLC) also split a pair of home matches last weekend, falling to Abilene Christian 1-0 before downing UIW, 2-0. Redshirt-junior Maggie Ramsey has scored three goals for the Lions while sophomore Amber Marinero has netted a pair of game-winners. As a team, Nicholls has been out-scored 14-9 on the season. Michaela Hawthorn, a freshman, has played every minute between the pipes for SLU with a save percentage of .833 and a 1.35 goals against average.

The Huskies have experienced success against both teams in program history, holding a 4-1-0 record against the Colonels and a 6-0-1 mark against Southeastern Louisiana.

Following this weekend's matches, HBU will host Incarnate Word at Sorrels Field on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7:00 p.m.
