??????THIBODAUX, Louisiana – HBU's tough serving, which resulted in 11 aces, was key as the Huskies cruised to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-14) victory over Nicholls in Southland Conference volleyball Saturday afternoon at Stopher Gym.
Senior outside hitter
Bailey Banks led HBU (10-4, 2-0 SLC) with 13 kills and added seven digs and four aces, while senior outside hitter
Jessica Wooten recorded a double-double with 10 kills, 15 digs and three aces. Senior middle blocker
Blair Gillard added eight kills and seven blocks and freshman setter
Abby Gargus had 30 assists and eight digs. Senior libero
Hailey Erickson and sophomore defensive specialist
Hannah Lewis had seven digs apiece, with Lewis serving up a pair of aces.
Imanie Williams had eight kills for Nicholls (2-13, 0-2) and Stephanie Tobison had four kills and 12 digs. Jade Piper and Meghan Wozniak each had eight assists. Wozniak and Emily Venable had six digs apiece.
HBU hit .277 for the match, while stifling Nicholls with a .058 hitting percentage. The Huskies outdug the Colonels, 44-38, and outblocked them, 9-4. Nicholls failed to record an ace as the HBU went a second-straight match without a reception error.
The Huskies wrap up their three-game road trip with a matchup against Central Arkansas Monday at 7 p.m. at the Prince Center.
