NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Southland Conference play hits full stride this weekend for the HBU women's soccer team as the Huskies travel to Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State after opening conference play last Friday at Abilene Christian.
HBU (1-4-1, 0-1-0 SLC) will take on Stephen F. Austin (4-4-0, 1-0-0 SLC) on Friday, Sep. 22, at 7:00 p.m. at SFA Soccer Field before moving on to Huntsville to face Sam Houston State (3-4-0, 0-1-0 SLC) at Pritchett Field at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sep. 24.

th minute. Freshman
Emma Dooher scored her first collegiate goal to tie the game at the 32:02 mark while
Alanis Guevara made nine saves in the second period to keep things tied and send it to overtime.
Senior
Ellee Hall is tied for second in the conference and leads the team with three goals on the season while
Gabby Rodriguez has scored a pair. Guevara has made five starts in goal for the Huskies and is second in the league with 7.60 saves per match.
SFA downed Northwestern State, 2-0, in its lone SLC match thus far but dropped its most recent matchup, 4-0, to TCU. Senior Hanna Barker leads the Ladyjacks and is tied for first in the conference with 10 points (3g, 4a) while Katelyn Termini and Madison Hall each have a pair of goals. In goal, Madeline Talbot and Allyson Smith have split time with four starts and two wins each. Combined, they're allowing 1.5 goals per match with 36 saves.
The Bearkats will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday before the Huskies visit on Sunday. In SHSU's first SLC action last Friday, the Bearkats dropped a 2-1 decision at home to Central Arkansas. Offensively, senior Beryl Smith and sophomore Carlota Suarez Crespo are tied for the SLC lead with four goals a piece while the team has netted 17 goals in seven matches. Christina Hendershot, a junior, is 2-4 in goal with a 2.67 goals against average.
The Huskies own a 2-7-0 all-time mark against SFA while going 3-5-3 in their meetings with the Bearkats.
Next weekend, HBU opens a three-match homestand at Sorrels Field beginning with Nicholls on Friday, Sep. 29.
