FRANKFURT, Germany – Former HBU forward Alex Fountain has signed a professional contract with German professional basketball club, Fraport Skyliners.

Fountain, a Wartburg, Tenn. native, spent the last four seasons at HBU appearing in 110 games and starting 14. He saw his scoring average rise each season, culminating in his 2016-17 senior season in which he averaged 7.3 points on 47 percent (79-of-168) shooting, including 39 percent (23-of-59) from three-point range. Fountain finished his career just outside the top-15 all-time in free throw percentage with a mark of 78.4 percent (131-of-167).

"We're happy for Alex and excited for his future," said head coach Ron Cottrell. "We're always excited to see our guys get the opportunity to play at the professional level. Certainly, Alex deserves this opportunity and I know he's going to represent our program and himself well. I look forward to seeing his successes. He'll adapt quickly to the style of play at the pro level in Germany and I know he's going to do well playing overseas."

The Fraport Skyliners are located in Frankfurt, the fifth-largest city in Germany and a global financial hub. The Skyliners play in Germany's Budesliga and their Juniors club plays in Germany's ProB league.
