CONWAY, Arkansas – Central Arkansas shot 48.3 percent from the field, while stifling HBU in an 83-49 victory in Southland Conference women's basketball Saturday afternoon in the Farris Center.
Freshman guard
Shannon Jones led HBU (5-19, 3-11 SLC) with eight point to go along with five rebounds, while sophomore guard
Amanda Johnson had five points. Sophomore center
Kennedy Collins paced the Huskies on the glass with seven rebounds.
Maggie Proffitt hit 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from 3-point range to lead the Sugar Bears (21-4, 13-2) with 21 points. Kierra Jordan added 15 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double off the bench, and Taylor Baudoin chipped in with 11 points and seven boards.
UCA held HBU to 25.5 percent shooting from the field, 2-for-12 from long distance and 11-for-19 from the free-throw line. The Sugar Bears hit 5-of-11 from deep and went 20-for-27 at the stripe. UCA outrebounded HBU, 44-36, and outscored the Huskies, 30-3 off turnovers.
The Huskies return to action when they host McNeese Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Sharp Gym.
