The Huskies (4-7, 0-1) dropped it conference opener to Lamar Thursday evening at Sharp Gym. Junior guard

Veronika Kirienko led the Huskies' scoring with 12 points each. Kirienko posted her second double-double of the season, bringing down 12 boards. She is shooting 53.9 percent from the field, which ranks second in the conference, averaging 8.7 points and 5.8 rebounds. Johnson leads the team and is ranked third in the Southland for scoring with 15.9 points and 6.0 rebounds. Sophomore guard

Megan Valdez-Crader is shooting 32.7 percent from the field, and 34.8 percent (8-of-23) from the 3-point range with 6.9 points a game.
Randi Brown leads New Orleans (4-8, 0-1) and the conference, averaging 22.4 points a game and leads the team with 29 steals. Shania Woods adds 10.9 points and 7.1 rebounds a game. Kayla Mundy contributes 7.7 points a game, while Mariah Wright leads the team with 34 assists.
HBU will take on Nicholls to start the new year on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. in Sharp Gym. The Huskies will spend the next two games on the road, starting with Abilene Christian on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and ending with Sam Houston State on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 3 p.m.
