USAFA, Colo. – The HBU men's soccer team fell, 2-0, in Western Athletic Conference action on Sunday afternoon against a 13
th-ranked Air Force team that had allowed just four goals in 10 matches heading into the day's contest at Cadet Soccer Stadium.
HBU (4-5-0, 1-3-0 WAC) was held without a shot for more than 40 minutes until sophomore
Malik Key put a pair on goal in the 42
nd minute but Air Force (9-1-1, 3-0-0 WAC) made both saves. Less than a minute later, AFA's John Sims scored his fourth goal of the season with an assist from Aaron Uribe to send the Falcons into the half with a 1-0 lead.
Air Force then expanded its lead less than 15 minutes into the second half on a 60
th minute goal from junior Luis Martinez with an assist by Austin Dewing. The Huskies managed just three more shots, all within a 30 second span, that were all blocked by the Air Force defense before getting near the goal.
The Falcons attempted 22 shots to five for the Huskies while HBU recorded two shots on goal to AFA's six. Key had the Huskies' two shots on goal while freshman
Gianluca Natera also had a pair of attempts.
HBU returns home on Thursday to host CSU Bakersfield at Sorrels Field at 7:00 p.m. before facing San Jose State at home on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
